What to work in theatres but don’t have theatre experience, well now you can!
MFT have launched a Theatre Development Training Programme which will provide great opportunity for any nurses who are looking to up upskill and become a theatre nurse. Nurses will have the option to progress their career in theatre nursing, including management, education, research, and advanced practice without having theatre experience. Through this theatre development programme, you will be fully support in completion of your OSCE, where you will get the opportunity to sit a mock OSCE before you sit your exam.
MFT are looking for highly organised, flexible, and able to prioritise effectively nurses with excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and be able to concentrate for long periods of time. Due to the nature of the job, you'll need be able to stand for long periods and react quickly in an emergency within a confined space.
Once you have completed the theatre development programme, you’ll have the opportunity to work in operating theatres and anaesthetic/recovery areas. You may also be involved with procedures on wards, clinics or in other specialist areas such as cardiac catheterisation units. You’ll work as part of a large team that will include surgeons, anaesthetists, operating department practitioner (ODPs), theatre support workers and porters.
