Ward 3 - MKUH
Ward 3 is temporarily relocated on Ward 14, we are currently a 24 bedded female acute medical ward which specialises in the care of the frail and elderly.
Our Nursing team is supported by a medical team led by an acute physician and geriatrician, physiotherapist ,occupational therapist and a discharge officer all working together to better the experience for our patients. Other disciplines are paramount in the care we give, who includes the Dementia Specialist Nurse, Falls Prevention Nurse, Palliative care Team, Discharge Team and Community Teams.
We pride ourselves in giving enhanced care to our elderly patients which involves focused conversations in topics of interest with the use of pictures and prompts along with diversional activities which involves them in the here and known and alleviates boredom and agitation. We have an activities box and a communications box to help us have meaningful interaction with patients.
As a team we are proud of the care we give to our patients and how we have developed enhanced care on our ward.
We are a friendly supportive team who often socialise together; we work hard together and play hard together. We care about each other and offer numerous opportunities to develop and progress; we would love you to come and join us.
Recent Feedback:
“The Nurses in Ward 3 are excellent. They are caring, efficient, hardworking, kind and a pleasure to be with when you are poorly. They looked after all their patients with understanding, awareness, interest and was always smiling”
“To the entire medical, nursing and other MDT on Ward 3. Your kindness, care, respect and hard work has been noted with much gratitude beyond a simple ‘thank you’. As a nurse myself, I had the opportunity to see hospital, patients and the care we render tirelessly in another dimension, well done all! My family and daughters appreciate you all. Many thanks!”
