Clinical Nurse Specialist (Oncology Colorectal & GI)
Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Salary: The attractive salary range for this role is £48,998 to £58,790 per annum depending on experience.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (Oncology Colorectal & GI) to join our Cancer Services team based in Central London. We are offering a competitive inclusive salary for this opportunity of £48,998 to £58,790 per annum.
Role Overview
As the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), you will support the Colorectal & GI Oncology Consultants in providing specialist clinical management for oncology patients. You will also provide patient and their relatives with information and support, and where necessary facilitate communication and decision making between them and the multidisciplinary team.

Role
·Develop the skills to undertake advanced patient assessment, advising on immediate care or referral for medical interventions, ensuring the prompt and effective management of patients.
·Carry an ongoing caseload of patients, working with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate care and refers patients to specialist professionals, as necessary
·Responsible for the provision, quality, and development of the colorectal oncology service with a focus on the Oncology pathway.
·Work collaboratively with lead surgical, oncology and allied professionals in sustaining close co-ordination and communication in the management of patients with colorectal cancer.
·Assist with the development of protocols and guidelines to enhance best practice, as well as undertake audit and to ensure that the results lead to appropriate action being taken by the multidisciplinary team to improve care.
·Support and inspire the teams both within and outside nursing, sharing expertise and acting as a resource to others to improve standards, quality care and develop professional practice.
Requirements
·Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration.
·Post registration course within the Oncology specialism or working towards with a recognised teaching qualification and/or Level 2 Psychological Care Training.
·Considerable post registration experience in an acute hospital setting within an oncology setting.
·Proven track record of recognised practice development initiatives with clinical leadership qualities, including team working and team building skills.
·Clinical skills within the field of oncology nursing with sound knowledge in the principles of cancer, ensuring optimal standards of patient care.
·Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the ability to problem solve and deal with situations a diplomatic, non-confrontational manner.
